I honestly wanted to do a preview about this right after BGSM won against my team, but I’m not so sure with my analysis, so I have decided to watch the series first. I was thinking of writing about it after each team gets a win, but Alaska spelled out the word sweep.

But I was right (sounds conceited, eh?). “If Jvee goes blast, his team will skyrocket, if LA loses control, his team will screw up, and vice versa.” I thought.
See how BGSM seems to do everything right when LA’s hands are hot? See how great the ball movement of Alaska is when Jvee plays the 1-spot? See how the Gin Kings struggle when the Lieutenant can’t assist them as much? See how Thoss and Dozier create beautiful shots inside the paint when the Time Bomb passes the ball to them?
These guys may not be the consistent best players in every game, but their basketball IQ and awesome offense contribute a lot, or should I say, contribute the most for their respective teams.
Yes, Calvin is Alaska’s energy guy. Yes, Cyrus and Dondon are the go-to guys. Yes, Sonny and Rob are the defensive anchors. Yes, RJ can nail dagger threes. But nothing can compare to Jvee’s presence, he scores, he assists, he leads, he defends. He’s the guy who can make the prettiest shots out of useless plays.
V-Mack may be the guy who gives impact with almost every shot he makes. Kerby and JayJay have proven their prowess even at their age. Mac and Chris may be seen as the future of BGSM. Mark may be one of the best shooting guards in the league. But the best points they score mostly come from the best passes of the man who was a former Ace himself, LA Tenorio. Needless to say, with all these guys at his back, he is still the barometer of Ginebra’s every single game.
Both of them showed how great they are in the entire conference, but I must say that in this series, Alaska won with the huge contribution of Jvee Casio and of course, the We-Not-Me-Attitude of Alaska. LA Tenorio is not the complete reason why Ginebra lost but he, I think, is a factor.
All in all, Alaska’s defense dominated the entire conference and shocked the league. They make stops so beautifully, their composure and poise help them win games, and the complete team effort of the team showed how basketball is played. They did not overachieve, they just showed what they are really made of all this time - at the right place, at the right time.
